Uxetu is an African technology and design studio built on the belief that design is a critical, cultural, and curatorial practice — a way of thinking with land, memory, and community from the first sketch, not a finish applied at the end.
We combine research, inquiry, and design experimentation, with a focus on African and Global South digital imaginaries. By treating design as a cultural and curatorial practice, the studio seeks to expand public access to knowledge, support emerging creative communities, and imagine alternative digital futures.

Jepchumba is an artist, technologist, and design practitioner whose work sits at the intersection of digital culture, creative technology, and African imagination. She is the founder of Uxetu, a technology and design studio building products, platforms, and immersive experiences that go beyond aesthetics — grounded in research, community, and the conviction that African digital futures deserve to be designed from within.
Her practice spans interaction design, XR and immersive media, digital health, cultural platforms, and maker space development across Africa. She has collaborated with organisations including Ushahidi, MSF, Aviro Health, and Nyege Nyege — working in environments where design must be rigorous, relational, and real.
